I made a wreath mobile to hang above Skye’s crib and I can not tell you how many compliments I get on it! A friend recently came over and asked me to make one for her daughters room, so I decided to share with you all how I did it so you can make one for yourself! This is a very easy DIY that is not just limited to hanging above a crib. You can put one of these on a covered patio, kids bedroom or dorm room, above a dining table, use as the center focal point for a bridal or baby shower, birthday or holiday party….. the options are endless! There are so many different greens and flowers to choose from that you can really tailor this to your style. Lets get started!
Here are the Items you will need to create a Hanging Wreath
- floral wire
- floral cutters
- natural cording
- wreath frame
- artificial flowers and greenery
Tie on your cording. Start with one really long strand so you have enough at the end to play around with how high you want to hang it. cut a total of six strands and evenly distribute them around the wreath frame. Triple knot each one and then cut the excess. If you are using a smaller wreath frame then you may want to use fewer strands. Tie a knot at the top once you have the desired height.
Now the fun part! Start adding on your greenery. I like to start with a long strand of greens because I think that creates a full base to start with. Just work in a circle, adding on your base strand of greenery and securing with floral wire.
Once you have the base complete, you can start filling in with other leaves and flowers. Evenly place the leaves and flowers around the frame with floral wire. It does not have to be perfect, in fact it will look more natural if they are just randomly placed! Fill the frame as much as you can so that you can no longer see it by the time you are done. Keep in mind that this will be hanging, so pay attention to how it is looking underneath! Don’t just place the flowers on top, but around the sides so that you can see them when its hanging.
Hang your Floral Wreath! I just purchased a little ceiling hook from my local hardware store and I think it works perfect! Here is a picture of the finished product!
